Happ Health and Maruderm Organize a Health, Skincare, and Active Event on the Bosphorus
Last week, in collaboration with Happ Health Home Healthcare Services and Maruderm, we held an extraordinary event where we challenged the sea and the sun against the unique atmosphere of the Bosphorus in Istanbul.
With our gathering organized to raise awareness about healthy nutrition, skin health, sun protection, and skin cancer during the summer months; Şebnem Dönmez, Tufan Gökpınar, Aslıhan Kapanşahin, Cihan Nacar, Aret Vartanyan, Gökhan Mumcu, Merve Sarıtaş, Ceren Benderlioğlu, Aslı Turanlı, Erdal Güvenç, and many other valuable friends joined us.
Throughout our event, we both received important information from our experts on protecting health during the summer months and enjoyed a unique experience that brought movement, sports, and awareness together on the Bosphorus.
A Healthy Breakfast and Conversation on Summer Nutrition at A’jia Hotel
Our event began with the unique Bosphorus view at A’jia Hotel. Together with Serkan Aksoy, the valued dietitian of the Happ Health Home Healthcare Platform, we discussed the points to consider when it comes to nutrition during the summer months.
During the conversation, accompanied by healthy breakfasts prepared in line with the recommendations of Diyetisyenimiz Ege Ramadanoğlu, we discussed the importance of light and balanced nutrition during the summer, sugar addiction, sports nutrition, and details to consider in daily eating routines.
What Should Be Considered When It Comes to Nutrition During the Summer?
Dyt. Ege Ramadanoğlu emphasized the importance of maintaining the body’s fluid balance, avoiding heavy and fatty foods, and consuming more fresh vegetables and fruits, especially in hot weather. She highlighted that nutrition during the summer is important not only for weight management but also for energy levels, the digestive system, skin health, and overall well-being.
Throughout the conversation, our guests also asked Serkan Aksoy questions about their eating habits, sugar consumption, nutrition plans for individuals who exercise, and healthy breakfast alternatives for the summer months.
Skin Cancer Awareness and the Importance of Sun Protection
At our gathering, organized to raise awareness about skin cancer and highlight the importance of sun protection, we welcomed Uzm. Dr. Elçin Akdaş, one of the valued dermatologists in the Happ Health family.
Uzm. Dr. Elçin Akdaş stated that skin problems caused by the harmful effects of the sun may increase during the summer months and emphasized that prolonged, unprotected exposure to the sun can pose a risk to skin health.
Expert Recommendations for Sun Protection
Uzm. Dr. Elçin Akdaş stated that sun protection should be an integral part of daily routines during the summer months. She particularly reminded us that direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided between 12:00 and 15:00.
The key recommendations our dermatologist shared with our guests were as follows:
- Sunscreen should be applied before starting the day.
- Sunscreen should be reapplied at least every 2 hours throughout the day.
- A separate sunscreen suitable for the skin type should be preferred for the face.
- Prolonged exposure to the sun should be avoided.
- Sunbathing without protection for the purpose of tanning should be avoided.
- Skin type and product ingredients should be taken into consideration when choosing sunscreen.
In response to questions from our guests, Uzm. Dr. Elçin Akdaş underlined that choosing the right product is just as important as protecting yourself from the sun. She stated that products used on the face should be suitable for the individual’s skin type and that not every product may be appropriate for every skin type.
Raising Awareness About Deodorant and Roll-On Use During the Summer
At the event, we also spoke with Uzm. Dr. Elçin Akdaş about deodorants and roll-on products, which are used more frequently during the summer months. Dr. İkizler emphasized the importance of paying attention to the ingredients of products applied to the underarm area and informed our guests about the unconscious use of products containing chemicals.
Why Is Proper Roll-On Use Important?
As sweating increases during the summer months, the use of personal care products also becomes more frequent. At this point, reading product labels and making more careful choices when it comes to products that come into direct contact with the skin become increasingly important.
The key awareness points shared with our guests were as follows:
- Care should be taken with products containing parabens.
- Products with a high fragrance content may cause irritation in sensitive skin.
- When using products containing aluminum regularly, product selection should be made consciously.
- The ingredients of products applied to the underarm area should be checked regardless of gender.
- Natural and skin-friendly alternatives can be considered.
- Sweating should not be feared; what matters is managing the sweating process with healthy hygiene habits.
To support this awareness, we introduced our guests to Dr. Plante’s roll-on products containing natural ingredients and St. John’s wort oil and shared the message: “Don’t be afraid to sweat.”
A Sea Bike Experience on the Bosphorus in Istanbul
In the second part of our event, we planned a special experience that transformed the topics of healthy living, movement, and sun protection we had discussed throughout the morning into practice.
With the contribution of Bosphorus Kürek, our guests experienced sea biking on the Bosphorus in Istanbul. Challenging the sea and the sun, our guests both enjoyed the pleasure of movement through this extraordinary activity and had the opportunity to experience a different type of water sport in Istanbul.
Şebnem Dönmez: “An Activity That People Living in Istanbul Should Try”
Şebnem Dönmez shared her thoughts about the sea bike experience with the following words:
“I had heard about rowing activities in Istanbul. But I heard about sea biking from Yağmur Kalyoncu. It is quite enjoyable. It is an activity that people living in Istanbul and those interested in water sports should try. It is also very effective for staying fit and toning the body. I am excited to experience this.”
Cihan Nacar: “Sea Biking on the Bosphorus Is an Activity That Even Istanbulites Don’t Know Much About Yet”
Cihan Nacar stated that the sea bike experience on the Bosphorus was both enjoyable and required significant physical effort:
“Thanks to Yağmur Kalyoncu, we experienced a new activity. Sea biking on the Bosphorus is an activity that even we Istanbulites don’t know much about yet. But it is a trending sport around the world. Along with the healing and calming aspect of the water, you make a serious physical effort as you challenge the waves. It was an activity that made us sweat out at sea.”
Tufan Gökpınar: “I’m Happy to Support Skin Cancer Awareness”
Tufan Gökpınar highlighted both the sports and awareness aspects of the event:
“As an athlete, I am very happy to take part in this event and to support awareness of such a sensitive issue, especially skin cancer. We challenged the sea and the sun against the unique view of the Bosphorus. Istanbul is truly a special city where you can enjoy so many different activities. Those who are in Istanbul during the summer months should definitely experience this.”
